Choosing a colour scheme
for your mug
We offer four colour schemes, and the most common question we get is: which one? They each have a character of their own. Here’s how to decide.
The four schemes
- Classic Blueprint — the original: deep navy background with fine pale-blue linework. Works with everything and suits every machine. If you’re not sure, start here.
- Sepia Patent — warm ochre tones on a deep brown ground. Evokes a Victorian patent office and suits older machines particularly well — pre-war cars, steam engines, early aircraft.
- Midnight Navy — a darker, more dramatic take on the blueprint. Near-black background with cooler blue lines. Popular with modern machinery and spacecraft.
- Engineering White — white background with dark graphite linework, like a printed technical drawing. Crisp and bold — stands out on a desk and photographs well as a gift.
Think about the machine
A Spitfire in Sepia Patent feels era-appropriate. A Falcon 9 in Midnight Navy feels right. A classic Land Rover looks at home in Classic Blueprint or Sepia. There’s no wrong answer, but letting the machine guide the palette usually produces the result people love most.
Think about the recipient
If you’re giving the mug as a gift, consider their desk or kitchen aesthetic. Classic Blueprint suits almost everyone. Engineering White suits people who prefer a lighter, cleaner look.
